NOTION
Customer Insights & Go-to-Market Strategy
OVERVIEW: Notion is smart home technology company that makes an Oreo-sized all-in-one home monitoring sensor that can be placed around a home to alert homeowners of activities such as opening doors, water leaks, and temperature changes via their notion app. In Q2 of 2019 notion will be going to market with new products and services. Notion came to me for support in developing a Go-to-Market strategy that is customer focused and builds on the elegant design and inherent simplicity of the core notion product.
GOAL: To reposition the website and make it easier for customers to understand the simplicity of their products as well as introduce a new home monitoring service. The overall project had three main goals:
To understand consumer expectations when researching and shopping online for home security and home monitoring services.
Provide insights and direction on how to go-to-market with notion’s pro-monitoring service.
Provide pro-monitoring GTM website recommendations
- Delivered as wireframes & screen shots
METHOD: By using a combination of data sources such as Market Research, Surveys, and User Testing, I was able to provide a holistic view of the current customer impression of notion as well as expectations when shopping for home monitoring and home security systems.
RESULTS: The customer research and user testing revealed opportunity for improvement in how the notion products are presented to potential customers. Notion's water and temperature monitoring provides a unique value prop for customers that should be elevated and highlighted. There is also obvious confusion in the way customers view home monitoring, home security, and video monitoring systems that should be clarified in the website content. The full results and recommendations can be found in the case study.
Stay tuned for the final updates! These recommendations have not launched yet.
ROLE: All of the work in this case study was completed by me as a consultant to notion.
